Sahid Sunil Sarkar Lane gives NOC for home isolation of COVID patients

August 5: The coronavirus pandemic has also given rise to humanitarian crisis. In many places, people are even not allowing doctors, nurses and other health workers to enter their apartment. However, many localities in Silchar have adopted laudable steps in this connection. Some societies and lane development committees have taken unanimous decision of allowing asymptomatic COVID-19 positive patients to stay in home isolation. On Monday, a similar decision was taken by “Sahid Sunil Sarkar Lane (Smashan Road)”, Silchar

President of the ‘Sahid Sunil Sarkar Lane’, Dr.H.K. Choudhury (Retd. HoD, Ophthalmolgy, SMCH) and Working President Mitra Roy (Former Vice Chairperson, SMB) informed that they have decided that, if any resident of their lane (including tenants) tests COVID-19 positive (asymptomatic), then they will have no objection in allowing home quarantine to that patient. They also decided that the other residents of the lane will provide essential commodities to such persons who will go for home isolation due to coronavirus. However, they added that such persons of their lane who will go for home isolation should observe the COVID-19 protocol issued by the government.

Further, the inhabitants of Sahid Sunil Sarkar Lane has also roped in Dr. Dr.H.K. Choudhury, MBBS, MS, Retd. HoD, Ophthalmolgy, SMCH and Dr. Mrinal Kanti Barman, MBBS for any exigency. In this connection, the lane committee has also given a letter to the Deputy Commissioner, Cachar informing her their decision of granting NOC to asymptomatic cases, if any, in their lane.

It needs mention here that eminent cardiologist Dr. P.C. Sharma and his wife were the 1st coronavirus positive patients to be allowed home isolation by the district health department after he satisfied the conditions laid down by Assam government in this connection. Earlier, Sukanta Sarani (Hailakandi Road, Silchar), Adi Shib Bari Lane Development Committee (adjacent to Public School), Moulabi Road (Ambicapatty), Bilpar – Ashram Road Unnayan Sangstha, Shivalik Park, East Norshing Road Development Committee etc also took a similar decision in allowing any asymptomatic positive patient of their lane to stay in home isolation.
