Rotary Pink goes for plantation drive at Assam University, V.C. takes part
July 9: Planting trees is perhaps the only way to save our ailing planet. Usually trees are planted by social groups on the occasion of World Environment Day. Hardly do people remember the necessity of plantation in normal course of time. However, Rotary Club of Silchar Pink undertook a plantation drive at Assam University, Silchar today.
On Monday, the Rotarians went for tree plantation in the university campus near the Mass Communication and Social Work Departments. Prof. Dilip Chandra Nath, Vice Chancellor of Assam University also participated in this drive and planted saplings. The plantation drive was inaugurated by the Vice Chancellor.
Head of the Dept of Mass communication Prof G. P. Pandey also planted few saplings during the drive. A total of 10 fruit plants – Mango, Olive, Indian Goose berry (amloki), Guava, Litchi, Black Plum(Jam), Myrobalan (Haritaki), Star Gooseberry (leboir) were planted. Further, 10 flowers Kamini, Jasmin, Gulaich etc were also planted. President of Rotary Club of Silchar Pink along with the other members were also present there.
