Orunodoi 2.0: Process of inclusion of new 10.5 lakh beneficiaries to begin from 7 Jan: CM Assam
way2barak, Nov.29: It is for the first time in the history of independent India that the state cabinet was held in Barak Valley. The cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma took place in the office of the Deputy Commissioner, Cachar on Tuesday afternoon. Following the Cabinet meet, Chief Minister briefed the press about the major decisions taken in the Cabinet.
The Chief Minister during the day announced that within 31 March, 2023, another 10,57,516 new beneficiaries will be enrolled under Orunodoi scheme. At present 17 lakh people are enrolled under Orunodoi. With the new inclusion, the total number of Orunodoi beneficiaries in the state will be 27,77,000. The new process of inclusion of Orundoi beneficiaries will begin from 7 January 2023. The 1st meeting of District Level Monitoring Committee (DLMC) will take place on 12 January.
After completing all procedures, the state govt will finally select and publish the names of new beneficiaries by 20 February, 2023. By 10 April, 2023, the 10,57,516 new beneficiaries will get the money under Orunodoi in their bank account. The annual outgo for Orunodoi will become Rs.4,000 cr. This will be the largest Direct Beneficiary Transfer (DBT) scheme in the country, stated the Chief Minister.

The beneficiaries of Indira Miri Widow Pension scheme who gets monthly pension of Rs.250 will also be enrolled under Orunodoi and will now automatically get Rs.1,200 (Rs.1000+Rs.250) per month. In a similar way, beneficiaries of Deen Dayal Dibyangan Jan Pension will also be incorporated within the Orunodoi scheme.
