Rajdeep Goala leads PAC to Lakhipur, takes initiative to complete all unfinished work on a war footing
November 14: The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of Assam Legislative Assembly came on an official visit of Barak Valley on Wednesday. 7 out of the 13-member committee led by its Chairman Rajdeep Goala visited Lakhipur sub-division on Wednesday. On that day, Mr. Goala had a dual role to play both as the Chairman of the PAC and as the MLA of Lakhipur.
The PAC took stock of all the ongoing government projects at Lakhipur sub-division. The committee led by Rajdeep Goala visited the office of the Sub Divisional Officer (SDO) Lkahipur. PAC Chairman Rajdeep Goala informed the committee members that a multi-storied building will be constructed which will house the office of the SDO Lakhipur along with other important offices over there. Mr. Goala said that he will take up the issue with the General Administration Department (GAD) of the Government of Assam so that the construction work of the proposed multi-storied building can be done on an war-footing.
The PAC also visited the Block Primary Health Centre (BPHC) at Lakhipur. Local MLA Rajdeep Goala and Chairman of PAC informed the members that the health centre would soon be upgraded to 50-bed hospital. He urged upon the committee to take special initiative so that this project gets completed within 1 year.
On that day, the PAC also visited the ongoing water supply project at Dewan Tea Estate under the PHE Department, DSA Stadium at Pailapool, Nabaday Hospital building, Chiri bridge at Labakpar and its approach road, the half-done Urban Water Supply Scheme at Lakhipur and also the incomplete 2-storied Lakhipur Municipality building.
Chairman Goala also took the PAC team to Nehru College, Pailapool and briefed them about the courses offered by the college.He informed the members that this is the only provincial college in the Lakhipur sub-division which caters to the educational needs of the students. He laid emphasis of starting full fledged commerce and science streams in the college for which he drew the attention of PAC.
Later on during the day, the members of the PAC convened a meeting in the conference hal of Lakhipur Municipal Board, which was presided by MLA Rajdeep Goala in the capacity of the Chairman of PAC. They interacted with various departmental heads of Lakhipur sub-division. There they thoroughly discussed about the various ongoing projects and also inquired the reasons for the slow progress of work in certain cases.
At the end of the meeting, the members of PAC led by its Chairman Goala proceeded towards Silchar. On Thursday, the committee visited various departments at Silchar. The committee is supposed to visit Hailakandi on Friday followed by Karimganj the following day, after which it will return back to Guwahati on Sunday.
The seven member Public Accounts Committee which visited Barak Valley comprised of its Chairman Rajdeep Goala, Prashanta Phukan, Ramendra Narayan Kalita, Rekib Uddin Ahmed, Hafij Bashir Ahmed Kashimi, Hrituparna Barua, Wajed Ali Choudhury and Manindra Sharma.
