Rabindra Jayanti Celebration at Sai Vikash Vidya Niketan, Tagore Campus, Silchar

way2barak, May 9: Rabindra Jayanti, Birth anniversary of eminent poet, writer and philosopher Rabindranath Tagore, was celebrated with great enthusiasm and reverence in the new campus of Sai Vikash Vidya Niketan, Silchar On 9th May.
The celebrations began early in the morning with lightening of the lamp and floral obtains by the Academic director, Mutyala Naidu Beesetti. Following that, Uttam Ghosh, the Art educator of the institution highlighted the relevance of Tagore’s teachings and works. Henceforward, a melodious Rabindra Sangeet was sung by the students in a chorus. Next, trained to perfection by the Dance educator, Supriya Chowdhury, the students performed a Rabindra-Nritya which was mesmerising. Succeeding to this, Shaina Akhtar a student of Class X, delivered a speech on the greatness of Rabindranath Tagore and how he was appreciated by each and every individual who knew him.


Speaking at the event, the institute’s Academic Director, MN Beesetti delivered a speech on how to imbibe Tagore’s teachings of universal humanism, love for nature and the pursuit for truth in order to address the challenges of the modern era. Lastly, Hironmoyee Dhar, the Bengali educator, highlighted the necessity to respect our mother-tongue-Bengali and follow the ideals of Tagore’s teachings.
As the programme came to a close, the enthusiasm of the celebration affirmed the influence of Rabindranath Tagore’s art and philosophy to this date.
