Priyanka is no more Tourism Brand Ambassador of Assam: Tweets Himanta
July 18: Torrential rains for some consecutive days have led to devastating flood in multiple districts of Assam. Apart from the central government, many individuals and social organisations have come forward to help the flood victims. Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar has also pledged to donate a handsome amount of Rs.2 crore for the victims of the devastating flood in Assam.
It is at the same time that netizens are severely criticising actress Priyanka Chopra, who is the Tourism Brand Ambassador of Assam for remaining indifferent towards Assam during the hour of crisis. On 16 July,2019, Priyanka tweeted, “Extremely devasted by all the news coming in from #Assam and other parts of India.
It’s heartbreaking to read about the displacement and loss of life. My prayers with those affected.”
I wholeheartedly support not making any actor an ambassador. But as far as Priyanka Chopra is concerned she isn't the ambassador of Assam anymore. https://t.co/7E2mrVSH1D pic.twitter.com/ScrAH2Jo99

Meanwhile, a twitter user mercilessly trolled Priyanka Chopra for her ‘late’ tweet over Assam floods. He questioned Priyanka’s responsibility towards flood-ravaged Assam. However, this tweet caught the notice of State Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and he tweeted back : ” tweeted, “She is not with Assam Govt now. Her contract with Assam Govt expired as far as I know.”
It needs mention here that Priyanka Chopra was made the brand ambassador of Assam Tourism for two years, starting on December 19, 2016.
