Prime Minister condoles loss of lives in a stampede in Haridwar

New Delhi, July 27 : The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, today condoled the loss of lives due to a stampede on the route to Mansa Devi Temple in Haridwar, Uttarakhand.

The Prime Minister in post on X said : “Deeply saddened by the loss of lives due to a stampede on the route to Mansa Devi Temple in Haridwar, Uttarakhand. Condolences to those who lost their loved ones. May the injured recover soon. The local administration is assisting those affected: PM @narendramodi”

At least six people were killed and over 25 injured in the stampede at the Mansa Devi temple in Haridwar on Sunday after a massive crowd gathered along the stairway route of the popular shrine, officials said.

The stampede was reportedly triggered by a rumour that a high-voltage power line had snapped and fallen on the temple path, sparking panic among the large crowd of devotees. A large crowd of pilgrims had assembled for darshan, but panic over the current hazard rumor quickly led to an uncontrollable situation.
