All State Universities & Colleges in Assam to form 3-member task force for implementation of NEP 2020: DHE

May 1: As a part of the preparation of National Education Policy, 2020 (NEP 2020), it was decided that every Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) will be mandated to constitute a 3-member task force under Chairpersonship of respective Registrar/ Principal of all the State/ Private Universities of Assam and Government/ Provincialised Colleges of Assam. This was stated in a letter issued by the Director of Higher Education (DHE), Assam on 28 April, 2022.

Accordingly, DHE Assam directed the  Registrar/ Principal of all the State/ Private Universities of Assam and Government/ Provincialised Colleges of Assam to constitute a three-member task force appointing one of the members as the Coordinator. The task force will be mandated to undertake general and specific responsibilities related to implementation of NEP-2020, as per decision of the government. In view of smooth implementation of NEP-2020, the assigned task-force will be responsible for execution, coordination and communication with the Directorate of Higher Education, Assam in regard to NEP-2020.

The details of the constituted committee along with their contact details (e-mail and mobile number) need to be sent in the email assam.nep2020@gmail.com on or before 2 May, 2022 without fail. This is essential for positive implementation of NEP-2020 in the state of Assam.

Earlier, in pursuance to the Cabinet decision taken on 24 November, 2021, (item No.5) in the meeting held in the Conference Room of Deputy Commissioner’s office, Bongaigaon, the matter relating to restructuring of school education system from 10+2 to 5+3+3+4 pattern for governance and implementation under National Education Policy, 2020 (NEP 2020) has been approved. The notification was issued on 14 December, 2021 by Dr B. Kalyan Chakraborty, Principal Secretary to the Govt of Assam, Education Department.
