Power grid donates crucial ALS ambulance, ICU equipment & Bolero vehicle worth ₹1.7 cr to Cachar administration
MOU signed between Cachar administration & Power Grid corporation of India Ltd for providing health care facilities
February 16: Power Grid corporation of India Ltd under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) scheme donated much crucial Advanced Life Support (ALS) ambulance to Cachar district administration along with ICU equipment and a Bolero vehicle for blood bank. ALS ambulance, the first of its kind in the district would prove handy in transportation of serious patients from Silchar to other places and thereby would prove to be a life-saving vehicle. This was stated by Deputy Commissioner Keerthi Jalli on Wednesday after signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Power Grid corporation of India Ltd.
The MOU was signed by Ms Kirti Jalli, DC Cachar & Mr A Sarma, Senior General Manager Balipara on behalf POWERGRID NERTS .The signing ceremony was witnessed by S Paul, DGM IC-POWERGRID Silchar & Mr Farhim, ADC Health cum CEO Health Zila Parishad, Joint Director Health, & Ashim K Paul ,Chief Manager POWERGRID.
Speaking on the occasion, DC Keerthi Jalli said, “We are glad to sign MOU with Power Grid corporation of India Ltd as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activity. We shall also hope to work with them for developmental initiatives in the days ahead. The MOU shall provide ALS ambulance, ICU equipment for Civil Hospital and Bolero vehicle for blood bank, Silchar. An ALS ambulance was much-needed here. ALS ambulances prove handy in emergency cases and life-saving cases. ALS ambulances help in extreme cases. They help to shift critical patients from one hospital to another. Even it can take a patient to outside places for further treatment. We are thankful to the Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. The cost of the ambulance provided by Power Grid is around Rs 45 lakh,” Jalli added.
“Although there are doctors at Silchar S.M Dev Civil Hospital, they often do not have the courage to treat critically ill patients as there is no ICU. If we could build an ICU, many patients would be treated here and those who come here in critical condition could be saved,”Jalli quipped.
On behalf of Power Grid, Deputy General Manager in-charge , Silchar unit, Supriya Paul said, “POWERGRID , CPSE, under MoP, Govt of India enterprise has taken up this special initiative under CSR scheme for funding health care items worth Rs.1.7469 Cr (consisting of 1 no. Advanced life support ambulance for NHM/ Dist Authority, ICU equipment set & 1 no. Blood bank vehicle for S.M Dev Civil Govt hospital, Silchar. Executive Director R K Tyagi (NERTS Regional Head) and his CSR team with SDGM HR Regional HQ & Silchar Unit took special emphasis for early approval of the same. ED NERTS conveyed heartfelt gratitude through POWERGRID’s Silchar team to District Authority & Health department, NHM as associated to implement the project & requested all concerned for early implementation. POWERGRID is thankful to the front line workers of Health Care & Dist administration and wishes Good health to the people of Barak Valley , state & country as a whole”.
Dr Ashutosh Barman, Joint Director of the Health Services, Cachar, Chief Executive Officer, Zilla Parishad Cachar and Additional Deputy Commissioner(Health) Eldad Lalthakum Faihriem also spoke on the occasion.
