Power bill to be Rs 8.10 per unit instead of Rs 7.36 from January

December 19: The coming year, that is, 2019 may not be so much a happy new year for the residents of Assam. The Assam Power Distribution Company Ltd. (APDCL) has contemplated to raise the electricity bills further by 9.9 per cent from January, 2019.

It was learnt that the Assam Electricity Regulatory Commission has approved the increase of per unit charges of electricity. As such, from January 2019 consumers will have to pay Rs 8.10 per unit instead of Rs 7.36 per unit for power consumption. This has invited sharp reaction from various quarters. Some consumers have expressed grave displeasure at this step and said that this additional burden will disrupt their budget of running the family.
