Postponement of COVID-19 tests for all teachers in Karbi Anglong, Jorhat districts
August 27: The state government in a notification issued recently stated that all teachers of government/ provincialised schools, colleges and state universities and technical institutions should do RT-PCR Test within 21 to 30 August. The order further stated that the teachers should report to their respective institutions from 1 September.
However, in a notification issued on 26 August by the Joint Director of Health Services, Karbi Anglong stated that the “COVID-19 RT-PCR Test for all teachers which was scheduled from 21 to 30 August, 2020 has been postponed due to unavailability of VTM at the district. The rescheduled date will be informed in due course of time.”
In another separate order issued by Joint Director of Health Services, Jorhat on 27 August, it was stated that, “All Block, PHCs and Urban Health Centres are hereby instructed to stop RTPCR Test for school/college teachers and other staff of education institutes with immediate effect until further order. However, RAT Test will continue as well.”
As per some unconfirmed sources, tests for the teachers were also learnt to have been postponed in some more districts of the state.
