‘Poll Express’ started at the initiative of district administration Cachar

March 5: The District Administration Cachar is taking various steps to attract voters to cast their votes. Under this, a mock polling center has been started, named ‘Poll Express’. Deputy Commissioner, Cachar, Keerthi Jalli IAS, DIG Southern Range, Devajyoti Mukherjee and Superintendent of Police Bhanwar Lal Meena inaugurated the mock polling center at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office premises on Friday.

The Poll Express will mainly travel to the border areas and rural areas of Cachar District. Demonstration of the voting process will be provided to the general public through the vehicle. New voters are being encouraged to cast their votes under the SVEEP initiative in Cachar district. The goal is to make women voters aware this year.

While speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Keerthi Jalli said, “I am a woman myself and our election officer is also a woman. We especially want to make aware the new female voters this year. As well as making people aware, we will also be showing them how to take part in the voting process. We are also making young voters aware through various measures.”she added.

Sharing his speech, DIG Southern range, Devajyoti Mukherjee said, “Police and administration are taking all necessary steps to ensure smooth conduct of elections. However, besides completing the election process, voters are being encouraged to exercise their constitutional rights. We appeal to every voter to assert their rights in the next elections.”

Superintendent of Police, Cachar, Bhanwar Lal Meena also praised the work of the election department and urged every voter in the district to cast their votes. Assistant Commissioner, Cachar, Vibhor Agarwal IAS, Executive Magistrate Bikash Chhetri, ALRS, Ranbijoy Das and other officials were present on occasion.
