PM Modi announces Trust to build Ram Mandir in Ayodhya

February 5: Prime Minister Narendra Modi informed the Lok Sabha on Wednesday that the Union cabinet has cleared a trust for the construction of Ram Mandir at Ayodhya. The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra will be an independent body and build the Ram Mandir.

Speaking on the floor of the Lok Sabha, PM Modi said, “I am pleased to announce that a significant decision has been taken to follow the directives of the Supreme Court. As per the directions of the Supreme Court, the cabinet has prepared a detailed plan for the construction of Ram Temple at Ayodhya. My government has decided to set up a trust called Sri Ram Janmabhoomi Teertha Kshetra, which will take decisions independently on the construction of a Ram temple and related issues.”

“We have taken another big step for Ram Mandir pilgrims. We are allocating over 67 hectares of land near the mandir area to the trust… We want people of all religions and community in India to thrive,” said the Prime Minister.

On 9 November, 2019, the Supreme Court in a historic judgment gave the Ramjanmabhoomi to Hindus for the construction of temple rejecting the claims of the Muslims. The court, however, ordered to provide five-acre separate land to Muslims in Ayodhya for construction of a mosque.
