BDF raises demand for Vistadome coach in Lumding – Badarpur section

Aug 6: The people of Barak Valley were waiting eagerly to get vistadome coaches in the Lumding- Badarpur route. However, all enthusiasm of the people of the valley evaporated when recently the railways department announced that the Vistadome express will play between Guwahati and Lumding instead of Lumding and Badarpur. Infact, the railways earlier declared that the trains with vistadome coaches will operate upto Badarpur from Lumding.

It is in this connection, that a memorandum demanding the introduction of vistadome coach in Lumding- Badarpur section was given to the Silchar Railway Station Superintendent by the members of Barak Democratic Front (BDF) on Thursday. Expressing their views, Kalparnab Gupta, the chief of the Youth Front of BDF said, given the scenic beauty of the route between Lumding to Badarpur, Vistadome coaches indeed would boost tourism. He said, When the train passes through the hill section amidst tunnels, waterfalls, lush green hills, it seems to be a fest for the eyes. We fail to understand what compelled the Railway Department to shift the vistadome coaches and rather decided to introduce it in Guwahti- Lumding route!”

BDF raised the demand of introducing transparent vistadome express in the Lumding- Badarpur section at the earliest and also to initiate weekly Shatabdi Express from Silchar to Howrah and Silchar- Delhi Rajdhani Express
