Over 700 shops & houses gutted in a massive fire in Arunachal Pradesh

way2barak, Oct.25: In a tragic incident, over 700 shops and houses were gutted in a massive fire on Tuesday at the Naharlagun daily market near Itanagar in Arunachal Pradesh. The fire broke out at around 4am on Tuesday. Locals alleged that despite the fire station was only a few meters away from the market, the fire department has failed to act timely and check the devastation.

Blast of LPG cylinders further added to the woes of the firefighters. It took hours for the firefighters to ultimately control the inferno. The exact reason behind the fire was also yet to be ascertained. It is suspected to be caused by firecrackers or lamps lit on the occasion of Diwali
