TV Actor Karan Oberoi arrested on rape charges

৬ মেঃ ধর্ষণের অভিযোগে গ্রেফতার হলেন অভিনেতা কর্ণ ওবেরয়। অভিযোগ, ২০১৭-সালে মুম্বইয়ের ওশিয়ারায় এক মহিলাকে ধর্ষণ করেছিলেন কর্ণ। তার ভিত্তিতেই মুম্বই পুলিশ গ্রেফতার করেছে তাঁকে। সূত্রের খবর, ভারতীয় দণ্ডবিধির ৩৭৬ এবং ৩৮৪ ধারায় কর্ণের বিরুদ্ধে এফআইআর দায়ের হয়েছিল।

পুলিশ সূত্রে খবর, বিয়ের প্রতিশ্রুতি দিয়ে ওই মহিলাকে হিন্দি টেলিভিশনের তারকা কর্ণ ধর্ষণ করেছেন বলে অভিযোগ। তার পর নাকি ওই মহিলার কাছে টাকাও চেয়েছিলেন। টাকা না দিলে ওই ভিডিয়ো ফাঁস করে দেওয়ার হুমকিও নাকি দিয়েছিলেন। যদিও ২০১৭-র অভিযোগের ভিত্তিতে কেন এতদিন পরে গ্রেফতার করা হল কর্ণকে, তার কোনও সদুত্তর দিতে পারেনি পুলিশ। কর্ণও এ ব্যাপারে এখনও পর্যন্ত প্রকাশ্যে মুখ খোলেননি।

May 6: Television actor and model Karan Oberoi was arrested by the Oshiwara police on Monday for allegedly raping an astrologer under the pretext of marrying her. She further alleged that Karan also shot some objectionable videos of the woman and demanded money from her while threatening to release the clips.

Based on the woman’s complaint, Oberoi was arrested on Sunday and booked under Indian Penal Code Sections 376 (rape) and 384 (extortion), Oshiwara police station’s senior inspector Shailesh Pasalwad said. Oberoi acted in some popular television serials like “Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin” and “Inside Edge”. He also appeared in some advertisements of cars, bikes and apparels.
