Northeast India Company to organise Barak Valley Achievers Award, 2019 on 29 September

September 22: The Northeast India Company will be organising the Barak Valley Achievers Award, 2019 on 29 September, 2019 at 5.30 PM at Ellora Heritage Hall, Silchar. A total of 30 individuals will be awarded as a mark of recognition in their respective fields. This was informed by Arjun Chaudhuri, the Curator of Northeast India Company in a Press Meet held on Sunday morning at Ellora Hotel, SIlchar.

Addressing the newsmen, Arjun Chaudhuri said, “Like the previous year, this year too, we have earmarked 30 individuals whom we will confer upon the Barak Valley Achievers Award on 29 September. The achievers were selected by the Company itself. These are not competitive or categorised awards. The selection is a harmonious blend of the young and the old. The seniors were selected for their immense contribution to their respective fields and the youth were picked up for providing impetus so that this award can boost them to achieve more in the coming days.”

Mr. Chaudhuri further said that they will also be conferring Lifetime Achievement Awards to Bimalendu Sinha for his contribution in the arena of fine arts and crafts and Dr. Asoke Gupta Roy for outstanding contribution to higher education in Barak Valley. A glance at the list of 30 gives an impression that the Northeast India Company has done justice by incorporating achievers from almost all walks of life.

Clarifying his position, Arjun Chaudhuri said, “By selecting just 30 persons, we do not mean to demean others working in similar fields. Our selection was done by the Company itself and in the coming years we will again come up with more new names from a gamut of areas. Our main motto behind organising such ceremony is to inspire the youth and to give respect to the seniors.” He, however, said that during the award ceremony, the entry will be only by invitation.
