No Plastic, Please! A green campus initiative in Cachar College

way2barak, Sept 19: In pursuance of instructions from Department of Higher Education and in order to spread awareness regarding the use of plastics, the Department of Zoology, Cachar College, Silchar organized a campus cleanliness drive followed by a lecture program entitled “No Plastic, Please! A green campus initiative ” on Tuesday.

The students and faculty members from the Zoology department joined hands for a green campus and participated in the cleanliness drive.

Later in the day, Ananya Dutta, PGT (Zoology), Adharchand H.S. School graced the lecture program as the Key Note speaker. She highlighted the various sources of plastic and remedial measures through which single use plastics can be regulated, reduced and recycled.

The overall program was convened by Birupakshya Paul Choudhury, Assistant Professor, Department of Zoology. Dr. Nilam Basumatary, Head, Department of Zoology presided over the session and welcomed everyone with a reminder of how plastics have taken over our day to day life. Meghadeepa Deb, Lecturer of Zoology Department delivered the vote of thanks. The lecture session was
attended by faculty members of Cachar College and Students from across the semesters.
