No hike in electricity rate before March in Assam: Electricity Regulatory Commission

way2barak, Jan.3: Recently, the Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL) had proposed to increase electricity rates by Re.1 per unit in the state. This has led to unrest among the consumers in entire Assam. However, on Tuesday, APDCL informed that there will be no increase in electricity rates before March. 

As per sources, the Electricity Regulatory Commission will take decision after receiving opinions from people. People, parties and organisation can put up their concerns and complaints in the portal of Electricity Regulatory Commission until 22nd of January. The commission is likely to hear the case and make a decision in early March. 

Infact, the proposed hike of Rs.1 per unit was announced by APDCL to provide proper services and and reliable supply to the general public. Prior to this, it was in December 2022 that APDCL hiked electricity bill by 30 paise per unit.
