News of death of Mr Bean aka Rowan Atkinson viral in social media is FAKE
Nov. 23: Social media has now-a-days has become a powerful tool for communicating important happenings, but at the same time, this powerful tool is often used by scrupulous elements to spread rumours. Such an incident happened on Tuesday when fans of Rowan Atkinson (worldwide popular as Mr. Bean) panicked a little when an old tweet about the actor-comedian’s demise started trending on Twitter. Soon from Twitter it spread like a wild fire in other social media platforms also.
The report first emerged on a fake Twitter account of Fox News. “Mr Bean (Rowan Atkinson) died at 58 after (a) car accident,” the tweet read. However, Rowan Atkinson is actually 66 years old. It didn’t take much time for the Twitteratti to figure out that the news was false and ‘Mr Bean’ was alive.
This fake news is basically a part of an old hoax that had shocked people a few years ago as well. In 2017, a fake Twitter account, set up to look like Fox News’ handle, had claimed that Atkinson had died in a car crash.
The actor, comedian, and writer is not dead yet. Atkinson, aged 66 now is completely alive. The netizens have shown displease over the news on social media. Rowan Atkinson first essayed the role of Mr Bean in 1990 and it went on to become one of the funniest comic shows. Mr Bean also had an animation version and two movies were released as well.
