New SOP likely to be released by 1 Sept, more relaxation on the cards
Aug 31: Assam Government is all ready to release updated Covid-19 guidelines which would be effective from the month of September. Informing this, Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma stated that “A new set of SOP would be published at 11 am, September 1.” Dr Sarma further informed that state Health Minister Keshab Mahanta will announce the new COVID-19 Standard Operating Protocol(SOP). The Chief Minister also hinted that there would be more relaxations in the new SOP.
As of now, shops, business establishments and offices needs to be closed at 6 PM, whereas, Covid curfew begins at 7 PM. As per sources, the new guidelines may increase the time for closing of shops etc till 7 PM, whereas, curfew timings to be from 8 PM. With the decrease in the number of daily Covid cases in the state, the government is gradually conceding more relaxations in a phased manner. Further, the government is mulling to reopen the educational institutes from September and also offer more relaxations as regards inter-district travel.
