New Delhi Calling : NCC Cadets from Cachar College Set to Shine in Republic Day Camp

way2barak, 8 Jan: The Republic Day Camp (RDC), held annually, is a platform where the finest NCC cadets from across the Nation converge to pay tribute to the sovereignty of India and display their talents. This year Cachar College had the privilege of being represented by three outstanding cadets who embodied the values of discipline, dedication and service to the nation. According to a statement from Dr. Joyobrato Nath, Care Taking Officer (CTO), this recognition came after nearly a year of rigorous training and a meticulous selection process held from August to December at Shillong, Jorhat, and Guwahati. The selected cadets, who are from 3 Assam Bn NCC Silchar and 62 Assam Girls Bn NCC Silchar, have been selected for various events, like Best Cadet Competition, Republic Day Parade, Prime Minister’s Rally, Line Area Competition and Cultural Events, Flag Area Briefing, etc., the statement said.In a notable feat, Cachar College also had the honor of sending two talented girl cadets to participate in the RDC last year.

The cadets, Senior Under Officer (SUO) Ashish Singha, Under Officer (UO) Mehbuba Begom Barbhuiya, and Under Officer (UO) Babli Singha will showcase their exemplary skills in various events, including drill competitions, cultural presentations, and leadership exercises in the RDC 2024. Their performance will reflect the punctilious training and preparation they underwent under the guidance of Instructors from their respective Battalion. The college takes pride in nurturing not only academic excellence but also instilling a sense of responsibility and patriotism in its students. The successful participation of these cadets in the RDC serves as a testament to the holistic development fostered at Cachar College.
SUO Ashish Singha, an NCC cadet from Cachar College, expressed his enthusiasm about participating in the camp, stating, “I felt that the dedication and hard work I had committed had been rewarded. Being part of this camp and representing the NCC-NER directorate is a great honour for me. I am eagerly anticipating the opportunity to connect with cadets from various parts of the country, providing me a chance to explore the vibrant and diverse cultural mosaic of India. Col Amod Chandna, CO of 3 Assam Bn NCC Silchar, has been instrumental in encouraging and guiding me at every turn, and I am truly thankful for his support.”
UO Mehbuba Begom Barbhuiya, another dedicated cadet from Cachar College said, “Ever since joining the NCC, my ambition has been to participate in the RDC. Now, with the eagerly awaited chance at hand, I am thrilled to seize this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and exhibit my best in the presence of numerous esteemed dignitaries, including the chiefs of Indian Armed Forces and Hon’ble Prime Minister of India. It’s hard to convey the level of excitement I feel because now I have the incredible opportunity to witness in person the thrilling Kartavya Path Parade, the exhilarating sounds of bands, and the presence of respected dignitaries—all of which I used to watch on television.”
Dr Joyobrato Nath, CTO (Boys) and Mrs. Georgina Khakhlari, CTO (Girls) of Cachar College extend their heartfelt congratulations to the cadets for their hard work, dedication, strenuous efforts, and bringing laurels to the college. Their achievements not only bring honour to the college but also serve as an inspiration for their peers to strive for excellence in all endeavors. Acknowledging the crucial role played by the officials of 3 Assam Battalion NCC Silchar and 62 Assam Girls Battalion NCC Silchar, the college expressed gratitude for their support and training.
