National Girl Child Day” observed in cachar

way2barajk, January 25 : National Girl child day was observed at the auditorium of Women’s college  here on tuesday.
Assistant commissioner and branch officer, Health, Junali Devi graced the occasion as the chief guest in presence of Dr. P.K Roy Add. CM&HO (FW), Cachar, Dr. Tripti Das, Principal Women’s College, Silchar.
 Speaking on the occasion , Assistant Commissioner, Junali Devi  said that foeticide is an old issue for which Government has come with the PC-PNDT Act 2008 to save the Child. She also pointed that the current sex ratio in Assam is not a serious issue. The girl should deserve equal love and respect and must be treated equally and they should participate in the development and growth of the Nation.
The main goal of this campaign is to save the girl child and educate the girl child all over India.Other objectives are eliminating the gender biased sex selective abortions and ensuring survival and protection of girl child. It is to make them able to get proper education and a safe life ,Jonali Devi added.
Talking at the event, Principal , women’s college,Dr.Tripti Das spoke at length on various good initiative taken by the government to uplift the girl child.
DPM , Rahul Ghose in his speech has encouraged all the girl student of the college by giving them example of Indian Mythology where the women have a very important position as compared to Goddess Durga, Saraswati and others who are symbol of Power, Joy and Education.
 On this occasion Dr. Ajanta Das Assistant Professor Womens College and Ankita Dey, Malaria Specialist shared their views in the observation of the day as well.
 Later, Divija Paul, a 8 years girl who have achieved 2 times State Level Table Tennis championship and also participated in the Nation Level and N Priya Rani Devi national participant on Fencing were felicitated and honoured by the District Health Society Cachar. An essay and art competition among girl child has also been initiated in this occasion.
