MP Silchar Dr. Rajdeep Roy meets Piyush Goyal, urges to start Silchar- Guwahati Express Train

Sept. 18: Amid the outbreak of coronavirus pandemic, regular train services have been disrupted in the country since the last few months. This has indeed landed the commuters in much difficulty. On Thursday, Silchar MP Dr. Rajdeep Roy met Piyush Goyal, Minister of Railways in New Delhi. During the meeting, Dr. Roy urged upon the minister to start the Silchar-Guwahati express train for the convenience of the public at the earliest.

Dr. Roy gave a written representation to the minister, wherein he stated, “The unlock procedure has started but we are facing a lot of problems travelling by road from Silchar to Guwahati via Meghalaya because of the rules clamped by the Meghalaya government.” It is in this context that MP Silchar urged upon the Railways Minister “to kindly consider starting the Silchar-Guwahati express train at the earliest.”

Dr. Roy later on informed that the Railways Minister gave a positive response to his plea and instructed the concerned officials to explore possibilities of starting the Silchar Guwahati Express Train, at least 3 days a week even if full normalcy cannot be restored.
