That BSNL is going to shut down is a fake news, asserts CGM Sandeep Govil

October 11: Government of India has no plans to close down Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) and Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL). News reports claiming their closure is nothing but a blatant lie, a fake news spread by a newspaper, which was later on picked up by others. Gradually this fake news spread like a wild fire and gave birth to fear and misconception among our customers. This was asserted by Chief General Manager (CGM) of BSNL (Assam Circle) Sandeep Govil on Friday, while addressing the media at BSNL head-office in Guwahati.

Sandeep Govil further said that BSNL and the Assam government has signed an agreement for establishing 77 public facilitation centres across various towns of the state, wherein every digital service of the Assam government will be made available. Accepting the fact that BSNL is going through a financial crunch, the CGM of BSNL said that the government has formed a group of ministers to look after the revival of BSNL and MTNL. He informed that BSNL has also signed an agreement with UIDAI for establishing Aadhaar Enrollment Kendras in Assam.

Assuring the existing BSNL subscribers, Mr. Govil said that  BSNL 4G services will soon be launched in 18 more cities of the state by the end of October. He urged upon the subscribers to deposit their trust upon BSNL which will be offering more value added services very soon.
