Manjul Deb assumes charge as Chairman of Silchar Development Authority
Nov. 17: On Tuesday, Manjul Deb took charge as Chairman of Silchar Development Authority. In an order issued by the Joint Secretary of Urban Development Department, Government of Assam on 12 November, 2020, Manjul Deb was appointed as Chairman of Silchar Development Authority (SDA). Prior to Mr. Manjul Deb, Jalal Ahmed Mazumder was the Chairman of SDA.
Taking to his Facebook Page, MP Silchar Dr. Rajdeep Roy wrote, “Heartiest congratulation to Sri Manjul deb for being appointed as the Chairman of Silchar Development Authority.” Mr. Deb was accompanied by MLA Kishor Nath and other BJP leaders and supporters to his office on the day of his assuming charge.
The order stated, “ln exercise of the powers conferred under Section 813 (1) (a) of the Assam Town & Country Planning Act, 1959 (as amended), the Governor of Assam is pleased to appoint Sri Manjul Deb as Chairman, Silchar Development Authority against the vacant post with immediate effect and until further order. His terms of office shall be as per the existing Rules. This has the approval of the Hon’ble Chief Minister. Assam.”
It needs mention here that in view of the forthcoming Assam Assembly Election, Manjul Deb was appointed as the Vidhan Sabha Prabhari of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Udharbond constituency. He also played a pivotal role during the Lok Sabha Election of 2019 working for the then BJP candidate Dr. Rajdeep Roy.
