Again dual earthquakes rock Northeast, tremour felt in Barak Valley also

Jan. 18: Again, two simultaneous earthquakes of magnitude 4.9 and 4.3 hit parts of the Northeast region at 4.29 AM and 7.52 AM on Tuesday respectively. The first earthquake measuring 4.9 on the Richter scale originated in Arunachal Pradesh, whereas the second one measuring 4.3 occurred in Mizoram. The tremours were felt in almost entire North East India including the three districts of Barak Valley.

As per National Center for Seismology (NCS), it was stated, “Earthquake of Magnitude:4.9, Occurred on 18-01-2022, 04:29:30 IST, Lat: 29.16 & Long: 93.97, Depth: 10 Km ,Location: 148km NNW of Basar, Arunachal Pradesh, India.”

In another tweet NCS stated, “Earthquake of Magnitude:4.3, Occurred on 18-01-2022, 07:52:14 IST, Lat: 24.07 & Long: 93.62, Depth: 15 Km ,Location: 46km ENE of Ngopa, Mizoram, India.” However, there were no report of any casualties.

It needs mention here that on Monday too, 2 earthquakes of magnitude 3.5 and 3.8 hit parts of the Northeast region at 2.11 AM and 2.39 AM. The first earthquake measuring 3.5 on the Richter scale originated in Tripura, whereas the second one measuring 3.8 occurred in Manipur.
