Machete-wielding man shot at by police for creating ruckus

৫ ডিসেম্বর : পঞ্চায়েত নির্বাচনের প্রথম পর্যায়ে গোলাঘাট জেলার একটি ভোটগ্রহণ কেন্দ্রে পুলিশের গুলিতে এক ব্যক্তির আহত হওয়ার খবর পাওয়া গেছে। হাবিয়াল গ্রামের হাবিচকের একটি ভোটগ্রহণ কেন্দ্রে ঘটনাটি ঘটেছে বলে জানা যায়। জখম ব্যক্তি জ্ঞানেন্দ্র রাজখোয়া বলে পুলিশ সূত্রে জানা গেছে। প্রত্যক্ষদর্শীরা জানান, এই ব্যক্তিটি একটি দা নিয়ে কয়েকজন ভোটারকে আক্রমণ করেছিল। কয়েকজন ভোটারকে মারধর করার পর লোকটি পুলিশের দিকে তেড়ে যায় বলে খবর। জনৈক পুলিশ আধিকারিক জানিয়েছেন, লোকটি দা নিয়ে ভোটারদের ভয় দেখাচ্ছিল।সে মোট চারজনের ওপর আঘাত করেছে। পুলিশ এগিয়ে গেলে সে পুলিশকেও আক্রমণের চেষ্টা করে। পরে পরিস্থিতি মোকাবিলায় পুলিশ গুলি চালাতে বাধ্য হয়েছে।

December 5: In an incident of creating ruckus by a machete-wielding man outside the No 1 Habiyal, Dergaon Ganakpukhuri polling station under Golaghat district of Assam, police resorted to firing. As per reports, the injured person identified as Gyanendra Rajkhuwa, attacked the voters with a  machete and chased the security personnel deployed there near the polling station. The injured man was admitted at Swahid Kushal Konwar Civil Hospital, Golaghat.

In another incident, a man died of pressure stroke on Wednesday morning while waiting to cast his vote at a polling station in Mangaldai. The deceased has been identified as Purna Deka.
