Lions Club of Silchar City organise teachers training workshop at CD Home LP School

way2barak, Dec.3: In a unique initiative, Lions Club of Silchar City organised a Teachers Training Workshop at CD Home LP School, Meherpur, SIlchar on Saturday. The theme of the workshop was “Current Scenario of Teaching in Primary Schools and the Problems Faced by the Teachers Today.” The key Resource Person of the workshop was Sudarshan Gupta, Head of the Department of History of Radhamadhab College, Silchar.

Initiating the discussion, Advocate Tuhina Biswas on behalf of Lions Club of Silchar City spoke on the objective of the workshop. She said that the teachers in the primary schools face numerous problems and the workshop has been organised keeping in view these issues, where the Resource Person will deliberate and offer plausible solution.

Sudarshan Gupta, the Resource Person of the workshop began by highlighting the “Current Scenario of Teaching in Primary Schools and the Problems Faced by the Teachers Today.” He brought to light a host of problems, particularly those which the teachers of government schools face while imparting lessons at the primary level. He highlighted the fact that now-a-days the teachers are burdened with the works of record keeping which causes loss of teaching hours. Moreover, he stated that as majority of the students at primary level are first generation learners, so they hardly get any guidance from their parents at home.

Sudarshan Gupta, however, added that inspite of various hardships, the teachers are to devise innovative methods in their classroom teaching so that the students get interested and thereby could retain whatever is taught to them. He also suggested the teachers to take keen interest and find out the talents hidden in the tiny tots apart from the academic discourse.

In her address, Dr Bonani Mazumder, Secretary of Lions Club of Silchar City also highlighted the various aspects of teaching- learning methodology which would result in development of interest among the students. The vote of thanks was delivered by Abdul Hai Laskar, President of the club. Later on, certificates were distributed to the teachers who participated in the workshop by Lion Sunanda Sinha and others.
