Let us all lead our nation to the victory of survival by obeying lockdown, appeals Dr. Rajdeep Roy
March 28: When the entire world is busy battling the fatal coronavirus, India government also announced a 21-day national lockdown. However, many throughout the country is seen not too serious about the lockdown and rather is found on the streets on one or the other pretext. Many parts of Barak Valley too is witnessing a similar scene. We have perhaps till now not understood the seriousness of the situation. It is in this context that MP Silchar, Dr. Rajdeep Roy made a fervent appeal to the people to stay indoors and to venture out.
Dr. Rajdeep Roy said, “We have heard and read about the two World Wars. We are also acquainted with the dropping of atomic bombs at Nagasaki & Hiroshima. But the present outbreak of coronavirus will have cumulative effect of the two World Wars taken together. Countries having much better health facilities than India are today witnessing queue of dead bodies. It is from this viewpoint the our Prime Minister has urged upon us to observe 21 days nationwide lockdown after the success of “Janata Curfew” on 22 March.”
He said that the government is fully prepared to tackle those situations that will crop up after the lockdown. He said, “I have myself gone to Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). The doctors and paramedical staff there are doing super human job.”
Dr. Roy then went on to make a very motivating comment where he said, “Today’s generation has now witnessed the freedom movement of our country. Here today we are once again confronted with a national challenge. Let’s pledge to accept the challenge and contribute to the future survival of this great nation. Let us all take an oath that we shall all confine ourselves in our own houses and not venture out until any dire necessity arises.”
He said that the government is there to help us in arrangement of essential commodities for we the people of India. “Friends, I would appeal to you all to observe the 21 days lockdown in letter and spirit. If we successfully pass these days indoor, then we can proudly boast to our posterity that we worked for the country during the outbreak of COVID-19.”
Drawing an analogy, Dr. Roy said, when India went to play world cup cricket in 1983, none expected that India would emerge victorious; but Team India did it. After that, we have won many tournaments, but the win in 1983 is something that is reckoned even today. Similarly, I would fervently appeal before you to listen to the captain of our nation (PM Modi) and lead our nation to the victory of survival by staying locked in this lockdown.”
Dr. Rajdeep Roy also donated an amount of Rs.1 lakh to the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund on Saturday for combating coronavirus. He wrote on his Facebook wall, “At this hour of crisis related to COVID-19 Pandemic, I propose to donate my monthly salary of INR One Lakh to the PM National Relief Fund.”
