Leaders of newly formed Assam Jatiya Parishad will gradually join BJP, asserts Himanta Biswa

Sept. 20: Taking a dig at the newly formed political party, Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP), BJP heavy weight Himanta Biswa Sarma in a sarcastic note said that the leaders of this party will very soon come and join BJP.

The new regional political party “Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP)” was formally launched in the state by All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) and Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) on 14 September, 2020. The new party aims to overthrow the current BJP-led coalition government in the state.

In his characteristic style, Himanta Biswa Sarma said that “I am sure; the AJP leaders will not get more than 1500 votes in the Assam assembly polls scheduled for 2021.”  He also added that earlier, most of the time the AJP leaderssat in Guwahati addressing the media from a comfort zone. But now they will start realising the challenges of visiting at the ground and approaching the voters.
