GC College student Basundhara secures 1st position in NE photography contest organised by DoNER

Mar. 1: It’s indeed a feather in the cap for GC College, Silchar in particular and the state of Assam as a student of TDC 1st Semester Physics Honours, Basundhara Paul Choudhury secured 1st position in a photography and videography contest organised by the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), Government of India. The ministry announced this contest in December 2021 and asked participants from all North Eastern states to send their entries by December, 2021.

It was in response to the announcement of Ministry of DoNER that Basundhara Paul Choudhury (age:19) also sent three photographs clicked by her with her mobile phone and registered herself for the contest entitled, “With Love From North East Photography & Videography Contest.” The Ministry of DoNER declared the result of the contest on 1 March, 2022 in which Basundhara Paul Choudhury, student of TDC 1st Semester Physics Honours in entire North East India.

Vaibhav Garg secured the 2nd position, Nangiaikara Swer from Meghalaya bagged the 3rd position, Souvik Mandal from Assam got the 4th position and Sanjay Sarkar secured the 5th position in the Ministry of DoNER organised “With Love From North East Photography & Videography Contest.”

Dr Apratim Nag, Associate Professor, Department of Physics, GC College, Silchar expressed happiness at the performance of Basundhara Paul Choudhury. He said, “It’s indeed a matter of great pride that our student has achieved this marvelous feat. I congratulate her due for this wonderful achievement on behalf of the entire college fraternity. By her achievement, Basundhara has also made Assam proud.”

In an exclusive interview with way2barak, Basundhara Paul Choudhury winner of Ministry of DoNER organised  “With Love From North East Photography & Videography Contest.” said, “I am really very happy to secure the 1st position in entire North East India. In fact, I clicked the photographs which I sent with my mobile phone with only 8 MP. I had sent 3 pictures, which I clicked at Son Beel last year. Today, when I saw my name in the tweet of Ministry of DoNER, I was really happy.”

Basundhara Paul Choudhury is the daughter of Bishnu Prasad Paul and Panchali Paul Choudhury from Itkhola, Silchar. She passed HSLC from Daffodils School, Silchar and HS (Science) from Narsing HS School, Silchar. She took admission in TDC Science stream with Physics honours at GC College, Silchar.
