District administration & SMB starts SLRM pilot project at Silchar Ward No.24
বর্জ্য নিয়ন্ত্রণে ঘরে ঘরে যাচ্ছে জেলা প্রশাসন, পুরসভা

১৮ জুলাইঃ শিলচর শহরকে সুন্দর ও পরিষ্কার-পরিচ্ছন্ন রাখার অভিনব কৌশল হাতে নিল কাছাড়ের জেলা প্রশাসন আর শিলচর পুরসভা। নতুন  স্লোগান, ঘরের বর্জ্য বাইরে আনা যাবে না। বৃহস্পতিবার শিলচর শহরের ৬টি ওয়ার্ডকে নিয়ে পাইলট প্রজেক্ট শুরু হয়েছে। জেলা প্রশাসন ও পুরসভা যৌথভাবে ২৪ নং ওয়ার্ডে ঘরে ঘরে যাচ্ছে, স্লোগানের ব্যাখ্যা দিচ্ছে।

প্রথমদিনে জেলাশাসক লায়া মাদ্দুরি, পুরপ্রধান নীহারেন্দ্র নারায়ণ ঠাকুর নিজেরাই ঘুরেছেন এ বাড়ি, ও বাড়ি। বলেছেন, শহরকে সাফসুতরো রাখতে হলে রাস্তার পাশে ডাস্টবিন রাখলে হবে না। ঘরে ঘরে দুই ধরনের পাত্র রাখা চাই। একটিতে ফেলা হবে জৈব বর্জ্য, অন্যটিতে অজৈব।

সরকারি তরফেই এ দিন পাত্র বিতরণ করা হয়। বলা হয়, শুধু আলাদা করে রাখলেই হবে, ফেলার দায়িত্ব সাধারণ মানুষের নয়। যৌথ উদ্যোগে নিযুক্ত কর্মীরাই সকাল-সন্ধ্যা বাড়ি থেকে সে সব সংগ্রহ করে নেবেন। এমন ট্রাই-সাইকেল নিয়ে আসবেন, যার দুটো ভাগ। জৈব ও অজৈব ওই সাইকেলেই আলাদা হয়ে পৌঁছাবে জঞ্জাল স্থলে।

জেলা প্রশাসন বা পুরসভা একে ডাম্পিং গ্রাউন্ড বলতে নারাজ। তাদের ভাষায়, এটি উতপাদন কেন্দ্র। জৈব পদার্থে সার তৈরি হবে সেখানে। অজৈব পদার্থও রিসাইক্লিং হবে। প্রথম দিনেই শহরে বেশ সাড়া মিলেছে। প্রজেক্ট এক্সপার্ট সি শ্রীনিবাসন বলেন, ঘরের জঞ্জাল বাইরে না এলেই শহর সুন্দর, পরিচ্ছন্ন থাকবে।

July 18: On 14 July, 2019, a pilot project under the caption ‘Swachha Sundor Silchar’ was launched. The project related to Solid Liquid Resource Management (SLRM) is the outcome of a joint venture of Cachar District Administration and Silchar Municipal Board (SMB). A total of 6 Municipal wards were earmarked for the pilot project. The wards where SLRM will be undertaken are 1,2,3,4,6 and 24.

It is in this connection that on Thursday, Cachar District Administration and Silchar Municipality Board (SMB) has reached out to the esteemed citizens of Silchar with buckets and equipment and also urged them to segregate the solid and liquid waste at source. This drive is a part of the pilot drive under SLRM to collect wastes from households.

Deputy Commissioner Laya Madduri, SMB Chairperson Niharendra Narayan Tagore,  Ward Commissioners Rajesh Das, Madhumita Sharma along with SRLM Coordinator C. Srinivasan started distributing green and red buckets meant for segregating organic and inorganic wastes to nine families at Normal School road. The buckets were handed over to Chandra Bahadur Chetri and his family members by the Deputy Commissioner and SMB Chairman.

Srinivasan and his team of Swacch Sundor Silchar (SSS) explained the process of storing the wastes which would be collected twice daily during morning and afternoon hours. Deputy Commissioner Madduri said that the pilot drive has been started in some wards and soon it will be spread across all the wards across the town. While speaking during the occasion, Laya Madduri said, “The pilot drive has been started in some wards and soon it will be spread across all the wards across the town.”

The Deputy Commissioner urged upon the Chetri family to make proper use of the buckets and also encourage others for the same. Around 300 buckets have been distributed across homes in the vicinity of ward number 24. Niharendra Narayan Tagore also expressed great hope towards the steps taken for making Silchar a clean town. All the volunteers under SSS were seen wearing uniform with SSS logo printed on them.
