Jishnu Barua retires, Paban Kr Borthakur takes charge as new Chief Secretary of Assam
way2barak, Aug. 31: Chief secretary of Assam, Jishnu Barua retired from the Indian Administrative Service on reaching the superannuation age on Wednesday. Reacting to this, Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma said, “Working closely with Chief Secretary Shri Jishnu Barua, known for his efficient way of doing things, was a delightful experience. The IAS officer had an illustrious career spanning 3 decades in public service. On his last day at office, I wish him good health & happiness.”
Jishnu Barua, a 1988-batch IAS officer of Assam-Meghalaya cadre, prior to his appointment as the state’s chief secretary, had worked in various capacities.

The CM, accompanied by education minister Ranoj Pegu, chief secretary-designate Paban Kumar Borthakur and principal secretary Samir Kumar Sinha paid a visit to Barua at the latter’s office in Assam Secretariat and lauded Barua for the dedicated service he extended to the state and its residents for more than three decades.
