Instead of petrol, Assam Govt to give electric scooters to meritorious students from next year: CM
All over Assam, 6,052 boys & 29,748 girls have received the award this year
way2barak, Nov.30: Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma in the presence of Education Minister Dr Ranoj Pegu distributed scooters to meritorious boys and girls of Kamrup & Kamrup (Metro) on Wednesday who scored 75%+ & 60%+ respectively in the last higher secondary examinations conducted by Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) under Dr Banikanta Kakati Merit Award.
All over Assam, 6,052 boys & 29,748 girls have received the award. Also present during the ceremony were cabinet ministers Chandra Mohan Patwary and Atul Bora, Education Adviser Nani Gopal Mahanta, Chairman AHSEC Rukma Gohain Barua & other senior functionaries of the govt.

Speaking during the occasion, Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma said, “Scooter distribution under Dr Banikanta Kakati Merit Award will be completed by December. Will ask Education Dept to give electric scooters to meritorious students from next year.
