Indrani Goswami reinstated as DDIPR, Barak Valley Region

Nov.  25: Indrani Goswami, DDIPR, Barak Valley Region (Cachar) has been reinstated in her previous post. This was informed via a notification on November 21.

Indrani Goswami was placed under suspension on June 15, 2020 over a controversy with the media. Sabir Nisat, District Information Officer of Hailakandi was thereafter entrusted with the additional responsibility of dealing with the matters as the DDIPR in-charge of Barak Valley Region.

A notification issued by the commissioner and secretary, Government of Assam, Information & Public Relation Department on November 21 gave Indrani Goswami a clean chit & reinstated her in service in her previous post in Silchar as the DDIPR, Barak Valley Zone.

While taking over the charge as Deputy Director of Information and public relations Barak valley zone, Indrani Goswami was accorded a warm welcome by all the staff of DDIPR office in Silchar. She was greeted with a “uttorio” and a bouquet.

Sharing her reaction, DDIPR Indrani Goswami said, “I am extremely happy to join here again at the Regional office of Information and Public Relations, Barak valley zone in Silchar, I was unnecessarily put under harassment, as I was on leave during the period when Chief Minister of Assam Sarbananda Sonowal visited Silchar”. She expressed her thanks for the love she had received from everyone during her previous stint at the DDIPR office in Silchar. Further, she pledged to perform her duties and responsibilities with all her dedication and commitment and urged the district administration for their co-operation in various affairs in the days ahead.

It is, however, learnt that Indrani Goswami has already applied for voluntary retirement from service before the suspension which will come through very soon.
