India reports less than 60,000 daily Covid-19 cases after 81 days, 1,576 fatalities
June 20: India’s Covid cases continue to fall with the country recording 58,419 cases, the lowest in over 80 days. India, the second-worst hit country, now has 2.98 crore cases. In addition to this, new fatalities have dipped as compared to the previous day too with 1,576 succumbing to the disease. The number stood at 1,647 on Saturday. This has taken the death toll due to Covid-19 in India to 3,86,713.
Active cases have decreased by 30,776 in the last 24 hours to take the tally to 7,29,243. The daily recoveries have been outnumbering the fresh infections for 38 consecutive day now. About 87,619 patients recovered in the last 24 hours. The total number of discharges now stands at 2,87,66,009 and the recovery rate has improved to 96.27%.
Kerala contributed 12,443 cases to the country’s daily numbers, the most among the states. It was followed by Maharashtra (8,912 cases) and Tamil Nadu (8,183 cases).
