India registers 200 cases of Omicron variant; govt ask states to take steps to contain it

Dec. 21: On Tuesday, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) stated that 200 cases of Micron variant of Covid-19 have been reported in the country so far. Of the 12 states and Union territories that have reported the Omicron cases, Maharashtra and Delhi account for the highest number of cases followed by Telengana and Karnataka.

Meanwhile, the Centre on Tuesday said that based on scientific evidence, Omicron variant is atleast 3 times more transmissible than the Delta variant. The Centre has advised the states and Union Territories to adopt measures and impose restrictions to contain the virus.
