Ripun Bora resigns from the post of President APCC

May 2: Owing the responsibility of the humiliating defeat of the Congress party in the Assam Assembly Election, 2021, Ripun Bora tendered his resignation from the post of President of Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC). On Sunday evening (the day of counting of votes), Ripun Bora sent his resignation letter to the Congress President Sonia Gandhi.

In the resignation letter, he wrote, “I pledge to continue my fight as a dedicated Congressman to uphold the ideology and values of the Indian National Congress.” Bora who contested from Gohpur seat lost to BJP’s Utpal Bora. He got 63,930 votes, whereas BJP’s Utpal Bora got 93,224 votes. He got defeated with a huge margin of 29,294 votes.
