All govt functions & meetings in Assam to begin with state anthem ‘O Mur Apunar Dekh’: Cabinet
July 7: The weekly Assam Cabinet meeting was held on Wednesday in Dispur which was chaired by Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma. Taking to his twitter handle, CM Assam wrote, “We took some major decisions in #AssamCabinet in interest of SHGs, good governance, etc. Decisions include protocols on playing of State/National anthems & serving traditional food in Govt meetings, best employee awards, extending validity of TET certificates, etc.” The cabinet decisions were informed in a press briefing by Ministers Pijush Hazarika, Dr. Ranoj Pegu, Bimal Borah & Political Secretary to the CM Jayanta Malla Baruah.
The following key decisions were taken in the Cabinet Meeting:
Protocol for Govt functions/meetings:
- To begin with state anthem and end with national anthem
- Only hand-woven gamosas to be presented
- Traditional foods to be served to empower local self-help groups
Karmachari Divas:
- Death anniversary of Gopinath Bordoloi on August 5 to be observed as Karmachari Divas
- Non-gazetted employees – 5 from each district and 10 in state level – to be awarded on the occasion
- Awarded employees to get 1-year service extension after retirement
Deshbhakti Divas:
- Death anniversary of Deshbhakta Tarun Ram Phookan on July 28 to be observed as Deshbhakti Divas across the state

Teachers Eligibility Test (TET):
- Validity of TET certificates to be extended for lifetime and upper age limit to apply in recruitment
- TET-qualified candidates can appear in betterment exam
Power Bills:
- All Govt employees have to clear their pending electricity bills till July
- NOC about clearance of bills to be submitted
- No NOC required for regular payment of bills after this month
Guardian Ministers:
- Guardian ministers & secretaries to pay 3-day visit to 7 districts under containment
