How to fill up NRC Correction Form-1

The process of updating National Register of Citizens (NRC) for Assam started from June 2015. The final draft of NRC was published on 30th July 2018 and after that the concerned authority under the aegis of the Supreme Court has started receiving Claims & Objections. The NRC authority has already specified that this is not the Final NRC. So now before the publication of the final NRC, you will get an opportunity for correction of any mistakes which might have crept in.

You will get another opportunity to prove your eligibility for inclusion in the Final NRC. For that, you have to submit your Claim in the prescribed format. But an applicant for inclusion of name in the National Register of Citizens (NRC) will not be allowed to change the legacy person in the claim form from the originally submitted form in 2015. There is no need to re-submit the documents submitted earlier, but that could be done. if additional documents are required to be submitted. Corrections can also be made in respect of errors in the spelling of names, age, address details etc. Final NRC will be made after the disposal of Claims, Objections, and Corrections. There will be a separate form for each of the NRC Claim, Objection and Correction. In this article, I shall discuss only about NRC correction Form-1.

What is NRC Correction Form?
NRC Correction Form-1 has been designed to enable public to request for making corrections in particulars published in Draft NRC such as in spelling of name, surname, age/date of birth, marital status, address etc. After that, you will be able to check your correct name in the Final NRC which will be published later on. Head of the Family or any adult member of your family will submit correction Form(s) for all members of his/her ARN together at designated NSK/Online. One Form is only meant for one member and as many forms will have to be submitted as the number of members for which corrections are required. All forms of all members of one ARN will have to submit together.

NRC Correction Form Availability, Date & Venue:
The Correction form will be available from 8th November, 2018. It will be available at your nearest NRC Seva Kendra. Further, you can also submit this form from 8th November, 2018. A specimen copy of NRC Correction Form is given here for your ready reference:

How to Fill-up this Form?
It is very easy to fill-up this form. Just follow the instruction given below:

Step by Step:
The correction Form is to be filled using BLACK BALL POINT PEN only. NRC Correction Form-1 contains two pages i.e. Side-A and Side-B. In the top of the Side-A page, you have to enter your Current ARN & Member ID i.e. same ID as appeared in the Original NRC Application then you have to write Name of Head of Family (HOF)
In this form, there is two part that you have to fill, on the left side of the form, you will see “Manner in which data published in Draft” column and on the right side you will see “ Required Correction” Column.

1. Manner in which data published in Draft: – It means you have to enter Name/Age/DOB/Sex/Marital Status/Present Address/Permanent address/Place of Birth/ Photo/Others shown in the Current Draft (As per your Complete Draft NRC data). You have to put a tick mark in the box against the field in which correction is required. You will have to fill up the required box wherever any changes is necessary while other fields are to be left blank. All correction are to be made as per information submitted in original Application Form by you. Changes that might have occurred in status of applicants since 2015 such as in the marital status, age present address etc. will not be changed by way of Correction Form submission. Correction will be filled up only if there is any data entry error in digitization of particulars in the NRC Application Form as submitted by the applicants in May-August, 2015. In case of correction in name of member/father/mother/spouse, the correction can be done both in English and in Assamese/Bengali/Bodo.

2. Required Correction: In this part, you have to submit your correct Name/Age/DOB/Sex/Marital Status/Present Address/Permanent address/Place of Birth/Photo/Other details. After that, Head of the Family (HOF) or any adult member of the family need to put his/her signature/thumb impression,address for  correspondence, such as, name of the applicant/HOF, House No, Post Office, Village/Town, Circle, District,& Contact No in the footer of the Form, Side-B.

Where to submit the Form?
After completing all the details required as per the form, then you need to visit your nearest NRC SEVA KENDRA. They will guide you regarding form submission. You may also submit your NRC Correction Form-1 through Online. There will be another NRC Correction Form-2 to deal with issues on mixing of families in ARN, withdrawal of application etc.

After Submission of NRC Correction Form-1, NSK official Staff issues an Acknowledgement Receipt of Correction Form in a format such as “ Correction Form for Member ID…, ……, ……, ….. of ARN…………………… is received on DD/MM/YYYY “. The said acknowledgement receipt will be signed by LRCR or any authorized official.

  1. Members ID box on the top right hand corner is that of the ARN holder/HOF? OR that of the member in respect of which correction is sight? This may please be clarified.
    2. KSKs are not receiving filled in correction form on the perfect that they have received order to that extant and advising us to submit online. They hierover are missing form.
    3. Online submission has not yet been provisioned in their web site.
