আতিথেয়তা ও পর্যটন ব্যবস্থাপনা বিভাগের প্রাক্তনী সম্মেলনে শিক্ষা-শিল্পের বন্ধনে গুরুত্ব

ওয়ে টু বরাক, ১২ এপ্রিল : আসাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের আতিথেয়তা ও পর্যটন ব্যবস্থাপনা বিভাগের উদ্যোগে রবিবার আয়োজিত হলো দ্বিতীয় অ্যালামনাই ই-কানেক্ট সম্মেলন। এই ভার্চুয়াল সম্মেলনে ২০২০ থেকে ২০২৫ ব্যাচের প্রাক্তন ছাত্রছাত্রীরা অংশগ্রহণ করেন। প্রাক্তনীদের সঙ্গে বিভাগের পুনঃসংযোগ স্থাপন ও পেশাগত সহযোগিতা আরও সুদৃঢ় করাই ছিল এই উদ্যোগের মূল লক্ষ্য।

অনুষ্ঠানে স্বাগত বক্তব্য পেশ করেন বিভাগীয় প্রধান অধ্যাপক সঞ্জীব কুমার সাক্সেনা। তিনি বিভাগের ভবিষ্যৎ গঠনে প্রাক্তনীদের সক্রিয় অংশগ্রহণের গুরুত্ব তুলে ধরেন এবং শিক্ষাজগত ও শিল্পক্ষেত্রের মধ্যে সেতুবন্ধন গড়ে তুলতে তাঁদের ভূমিকার ওপর জোর দেন। সেইসঙ্গে ভ্রমণ, আতিথেয়তা, পর্যটন ও ইভেন্ট ম্যানেজমেন্ট ক্ষেত্রের সঙ্গে যুক্ত প্রাক্তনীদের বর্তমান শিক্ষার্থীদের পরামর্শদাতা হিসেবে এগিয়ে আসার আহ্বান জানান। পাশাপাশি বিভাগের অবকাঠামোগত উন্নয়ন, একাডেমিক অগ্রগতি এবং নতুন উদ্যোগ সম্পর্কেও অবহিত করেন।

অধ্যাপক সৌমেন্দ্রনাথ বিশ্বাস প্রাক্তনীদের ধারাবাহিক সহযোগিতার জন্য কৃতজ্ঞতা প্রকাশ করেন। তিনি প্রশিক্ষণ, ইন্টার্নশিপ ও প্লেসমেন্টের ক্ষেত্রে প্রাক্তনীদের আরও সক্রিয় ভূমিকা গ্রহণের প্রয়োজনীয়তার কথা উল্লেখ করেন এবং শিল্পক্ষেত্রের সুযোগ-সুবিধা ভাগ করে নেওয়ার আহ্বান জানান। সহকারী অধ্যাপক ড. প্রদীপ কুমার পর্যটন ক্ষেত্রে ক্রমবর্ধমান সম্ভাবনার কথা তুলে ধরে শিক্ষার্থীদের অভিযোজনশীল ও উদ্ভাবনী হওয়ার ওপর গুরুত্ব আরোপ করেন। তিনি বলেন, প্রাক্তনীদের সঙ্গে এই ধরনের মিথস্ক্রিয়া শিক্ষার্থীদের বাস্তব অভিজ্ঞতা ও পেশাগত দিশা পেতে সহায়ক।

সহকারী অধ্যাপক ড. প্রণবেশ রঞ্জন চক্রবর্তী বিভাগের প্রসার কার্যক্রমে প্রাক্তনীদের সহযোগিতা কামনা করেন। বিশেষ করে ভর্তিসংক্রান্ত তথ্য প্রচার এবং আতিথেয়তা ও পর্যটন বিষয়ে আগ্রহী সম্ভাব্য শিক্ষার্থীদের মধ্যে বিভাগের প্রচারের আহ্বান জানান তিনি। অনুষ্ঠানে উপস্থিত প্রাক্তনীরাও তাঁদের পেশাগত অভিজ্ঞতা, কর্মজীবনের নানা দিক এবং শিল্পক্ষেত্রের বাস্তব চ্যালেঞ্জ নিয়ে মতবিনিময় করেন। তাঁরা প্রয়োজনীয় দক্ষতা অর্জন ও ধারাবাহিক শিক্ষার গুরুত্ব তুলে ধরেন এবং অনেকেই ভবিষ্যতে পরামর্শদাতা হিসেবে যুক্ত হওয়া, প্রশিক্ষণ ও প্লেসমেন্টে সহায়তা করার আগ্রহ প্রকাশ করেন। এদিনের অনুষ্ঠান সঞ্চালনা করেন গবেষক জয়িতা ভট্টাচার্য।

Way2barak, April 12 : The Department of Hospitality and Tourism Management at Assam University organized its second Alumni e-Connect conference on Sunday. The virtual event saw participation from alumni of the 2020 to 2025 batches. The primary objective of the initiative was to re-establish connections with former students and strengthen professional collaboration.

The programme began with a welcome address by Head of the Department, Prof. Sanjeev Kumar Saxena. He highlighted the importance of active alumni involvement in shaping the future of the department and emphasized their role in bridging the gap between academia and industry. He also encouraged alumni associated with travel, hospitality, tourism, and event management sectors to come forward as mentors for current students. Additionally, he briefed participants on infrastructural developments, academic progress, and new initiatives undertaken by the department.

Prof. Soumendranath Biswas expressed gratitude for the continued support of the alumni. He stressed the need for greater alumni engagement in training, internships, and placement opportunities, and urged them to share industry insights and opportunities. Assistant Professor Dr. Pradeep Kumar spoke about the growing prospects in the tourism sector and underscored the importance of adaptability and innovation among students. He noted that such interactions with alumni help students gain practical exposure and professional direction.

Assistant Professor Dr. Pranabesh Ranjan Chakraborty sought alumni support in the department’s outreach activities, particularly in promoting admission-related information and spreading awareness about hospitality and tourism studies among prospective students. Alumni present at the event also shared their professional experiences, insights into various aspects of their careers, and the real-world challenges of the industry. They emphasized the importance of skill development and continuous learning. Many expressed their willingness to contribute as mentors and to assist in training and placement initiatives in the future. The programme was anchored by research scholar Jayita Bhattacharjee.
