5 Covid-19 patients die at Silchar Medical College in last 24 hours

87 patients in ICU, 33 in ventilator support & 152 put under oxygen at SMCH

June 3: Death of Covid-19 patients continued unabated in Barak Valley. The last 24 hours (5 PM on 2 June to 5 PM on 3 June) witnessed demise of 05 Covid-19 positive patient at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). This was informed by Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH. Their detailed reports were forwarded to the State Death Audit Board. All the 5 deceased are from Cachar district. The deceased were identified as:

  • E Bimal Singha (27) from Lakhipur in Cachar district was admitted at SMCH on 1 June. He, however, passed away at 9 PM on 2 June.
  • Nur Nehar Bibi (60) from Silcoorie in Cachar  took admission at SMCH on 2 June. She breathed his last 5.05 AM on 3 June.
  • Suparna Das (76) from Meherpur, Silchar got admitted at SMCH on 29 May. She expired at 10.10 AM on 3 June.
  • Santanu Das (52) from Kanakpur, Silchar was admitted at SMCH on 2 June. He died at 12.06 PM on 3 June.
  • Nakul Sarkar (65) from Ghoniala, Silchar took admission at SMCH on 1 June. He passed away at 1 PM on 3 June.

Dr Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH informed that till 5 PM on 3 June, there were 275 Covid-19 active patients at Silchar Medical College, out of which 87 patients were there in the ICU, whereas, 188 of them were in the Covid ward. Further, 33 patients were put under ventilator support and 152 of them were in oxygen support. In the last 24 hours, 25 Covid positive patients were admitted at SMCH and 46 of them were discharged. Further, 25 of them have opted for home isolation.
