March 29: Government of Assam signed an Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with 22 private nursing homes of Silchar in Cachar district for cashless treatment of regular patients at Ayushman Bharat rates, to be reimbursed by Government. On the other hand, Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH) shall be reserved only for COVID-19 patients, other than maternity & emergency cases.
State Finance Minister, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma is on a whirlwind tour of Silchar on Sunday. He met with the owners of the private hospitals at Silchar in the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner, Cachar. It needs mention here that he visited Silchar just 2 days ago on 26 March. The health minister is going around all the medical colleges of the state to assess the available facility and to ensure full preparation in case of any outbreak of coronavirus in the state.

Apart from the private nursing home authorities, the meeting was also attended by State Excise Minister Parimal Suklabaidya, Silchar MP Dr. Rajdeep Roy, Deputy Commissioner Barnali Sharma, MLA Dilip Kumar Paul, MLA Rajdeep Goala among others. Himanta Biswa Sarma will also be convening a press conference in the office of the Deputy Commissioner, Cachar.
