Heavy rain and landslides: Dima Hasao District Disaster Management Authority issues alert
May 14: Due to incessant rainfall in Dima Hasao District, which has caused severe landslides in different parts of the district, disturbing lives and properties of the people. It is in this backdrop that Chairman of District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Dima Hasao on Saturday urged upon the people to remain indoor and avoid loitering outside unless very urgent.
DDMA further asked people to avoid journey or travelling as landslides, rockfalls and falling of trees have been reported unwarned. Fallen power lines due to heavy rain and landslides are being reported that may be disastrous. Apart from those on emergency services and on DDMA duty, all others were directed to stay indoors.
The order by DDMA further stated, “All Gaon Burahs of all villages & OC’s /IC’s of all Police Station / OPs of Dima Hasao District are hereby asked to share information relating to damages due to Natural Disaster to this office in the following Nos. 03673-236324/1077 / 9435530412 for taking necessary action.
