January 27: Technology has taken the 21st century in its stride. In a world driven by technological innovations, India has got a major stake. A total of 73 proposals were awarded to 11 airlines under ‘Ude Desk Ka Aam Nagrik’ (UDAN) 3 on January 25th, 2019. IndiGo, Jet Airways, and SpiceJet have won bids for 235 regional connectivity services. Six water aerodromes will come up in Assam, Gujarat and Telangana under the third phase of the regional connectivity scheme (RCS) of UDAN. This was announced by the ministry of civil aviation on January 25th, 2019.
As per latest information, Assam’s Umrangso reservoir and other places would be connected through sea planes. Travelers can now directly land at Guwahati river front with airlines getting licenses to operate on water bodies under the government’s subsidised air travel scheme UDAN. Those eager to have these rides will not have to wait much longer as these water aerodromes are likely to come up in six to eight months.
