GOAL! Argentina leads 2-0 at half time against Croatia in the FIFA World Cup semi-finals
Lionel Messi converts penalty to put Argentina in the lead
way2barak, Dec.13: Messi fires Argentina into the lead. Messi hits the perfect penalty, blasting the ball right into the top right hand corner. Livakovic, who has saved four spot-kicks at this World Cup, dives the correct way but has no chance. Messi scored the first goal of the semi-final against Croatia in the FIFA World Cup 2022 in the 34th minute of the match. Lionel Messi, with that 11th FIFA World Cup goal, is Argentina’s all-time leading World Cup scorer. The record he shared with Gabriel Batistuta is now his alone.
A bulldozing run from Alvarez in the 39th minute of the match. After winning the foul for the penalty, Alvarez makes an incredible run from behind the halfway line. He loses control of the ball twice but instantly wins it back and then beats Livakovic from close range. An incredible few minutes from the striker. Argentina is now leading by 2-0 against Croatia before the half time.
