GM NF Railway reaches breach site, effort on at early restoration of the line

May 15: As the process of evacuating of the stranded passengers from Ditokcherra and New Haflong has been almost complete, the railway authorities have now set itself to repair the tracks. Genral Manager of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR), Anshul Gupta, has reached the breach sites to take stock of the damages. “Nearing the completion of evacuating passengers, NF Railway is now aimed at early restoration of the line connecting Tripura and Cachar hill district of Assam,” tweeted the NF Railway. However, the visuals of the damage indicate that it will take couple of days to restore the movement of train services.

Meanwhile, the evacuation special train has reached Silchar and after a final count it has been seen that a total of 1245 passengers have been evacuated successfully by train. Airlifting is being done to evacuate the remaining passengers at Ditokcherra. Also, 204 stranded passengers who had reached Maibang have left along with the special train to Guwahati.
