মুম্বাইর হাসপাতালে আগুন, শিশু সহ মৃত ৬
6 dead 147 injured in a major fire at Mumbai hospital
১৮ ডিসেম্বর : মুম্বাইয়ের আন্ধেরি ইস্টের এক সরকারি হাসপাতালে বিধ্বংসী অগ্নিকাণ্ডের ঘটনায় দুই মাসের এক শিশু সহ ৬ ব্যক্তি প্রাণ হারিয়েছেন। উদ্ধারকারী দল বিপজ্জনক অবস্থায় হাসপাতালের মোট ১৪৭ জন আহতকে অন্যত্র নিয়ে গেছে।
সোমবার বিকেল চারটা নাগাদ আন্ধেরির মারলে থাকা সরকারি ইএসআইসি কামনগর হাসপাতালে আগুন লাগে। হাসপাতাল থেকে প্রায় চারটা নাগাদ ফোন করে জানানো হয় দমকল বাহিনীকে। খবর পাওয়ার সঙ্গে সঙ্গে ১০টি ফায়ার ইঞ্জিন, ৬টি জলের ট্যাঙ্ক, তিনটি টার্ন টেবল ল্যাডার ও ১৬টি অ্যাম্বুলেন্স সহ দমকলের ইঞ্জিন ছুটে আসে। সঙ্গে ছিলেন দমকল বাহিনীর উচ্চপদস্থ অফিসাররা। দমকল বাহিনী সূত্রে জানা যায়, কালো ধোয়ায় পুরো হাসপাতাল ছেয়ে যায়। রোগী ও তাঁদের সঙ্গে থাকা লোকজন হাসপাতালের করিডোরে আটকে পড়েন। উদ্ধারের পর হাসপাতালের রোগী ও অন্যদের পাশে থাকা তিনটি হাসপাতালে পাঠানো হয়। তবে কিছুক্ষণের মধ্যেই আগুন আয়ত্বে আসে এবং হাসপাতালের সবাইকে অন্যত্র সরিয়ে নেওয়া সম্ভব হয়।
মুম্বাইয়ের মেয়র ভি মহাদেশ্বর বলেন, আগুন লাগার কারণ জানা যায়নি। তিনি বলেন, মহারাষ্ট্র ইন্ডাস্ট্রিয়াল ডেভেলপমেন্ট কর্পোরেশন-এর ফায়ার অডিট করার কথা, কিন্তু তারা তা করেছে কি না তদন্ত করে দেখা হবে।
The fire department has sent 10 fire engines, six water tankers, three turn table ladders and as many as 16 ambulances for rescuing trapped people as senior officials supervised the operation. According to the fire brigade, smoke spread through out the multistorey hospital, trapping patients in the corridors and on the terrace. The rescued people were sent to three nearby hospitals. The fire has now been brought under control and all those trapped in the building rescued.
Mumbai Mayor V Mahadeshwar said “The cause of the fire is not known yet. Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) is responsible for the fire audits, whether they carried out fire audits or not, that will be investigated.”
