Former Minister & architect of IMDT ACT Abdul Muhib Mazumder admitted at GMCH
Sept 11: Former Assam Minister Abdul Muhib Mazumder was admitted at Gauhati Medical College & Hospital (GMCH) due to high blood pressure and heart related complications. A notable advocate of both High Court & Supreme Court, he has been admitted at GMCH since Thursday. A group of doctors were entrusted to monitor his health by the Chief Minister and Health Minister of Assam. His condition was learnt to be somewhat stable.
Abdul Muhib Mazumder defended Indira Gandhi against her prosecution by Tirkha Commission in 1977-78 in the High Court. he also drafted the IMDT Act (Illegal Migrants Determination by Tribunal Act) 1983 and Assam Accord in 1985 as the then Law Minister of Assam. His father Late Abdul Matlib Mazumdar was Minister in the Gopinath Bordoloi Ministry (1946-1957) and then in Bishnu Ram Medhi cabinet and again in Bimala Prasad Ministry in 1967-1971.
Abdul Muhib Mazumder was MLA-From LA-6 Hailakandi for 4 times. He was also the Cabinet Minister twice from 1983-1985 and 1996-2001. Apart from this, he held a number of posts like:

- Advocate General, Assam(1980-1983)
- Advocate General, Arunachal Pradesh (1991-1996)
