Forest Minister inaugurates 3 drinking water supply projects under Jal Jeevan Mission in Cachar

Pure drinking water will be supplied to households through pipelines in rural areas: Parimal Suklabaidya

Jan 31: Minister for Forest, Excise, Environment & Fishery, Parimal Suklabaidya inaugurated three newly constructed drinking water supply projects in Dholai Constituency of Cachar District on Monday. The Minister inaugurated the newly constructed drinking water project one at Dulalgram under Palonghat Development Block at a cost of Rs.47,50,000, one at Jorkhal at a cost of Rs. 47,88,000 and another one at Chitoldor at a cost of 38,90,000 under “Pradhan Mantri Jal Jeevan Mission” Scheme.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister Parimal Suklabaidya said, “It was the biggest failure of previous Congress led government for which it has not been possible to supply drinking water to all parts of the country, but after the formation of BJP-led government in India, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, I will continue my efforts to make this dream of the Prime Minister a reality and I hope within year 2024 water connection to every household of India will be completed”.

“On 15 August 2019, Prime Minister of India Narendra Modiji launched a historic project called the “Jal Jeevan Mission. After the inauguration of the project, only 1.30 lakh or 8.57% rural households were provided house connection of water supply project and now within the last two years, house connection under Pradhan Mantri Jal Jeevan Mission project has reached more than 4.5 crore households” Mentioned Minister Suklabaidya .
While elaborating on the scheme Minister Suklabaidya said” Under this historic project of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, drinking water connection has already been completed in more than 2.5 lakh households in the state”.

He further stated, “About 1 lakh 70 thousand house connections have already been completed in Cachar district. It has succeeded in completing 48.48 percent in Cachar district and will be completed 100 percent by 2024.”

East Dholai, ZPC Member Swapan Kumar Das, Central Dhalai ZPC member and Cachar District BJP General Secretary Shashanka Chandra Pal and others were also present on the occasion.
